In February 1944 British troops managed to hold against some of the finest infantry in the Japanese Army. Over a 15 day battle, in the jungle and paddy fields of the Far East, the British troops had a decisive victory against the Japanese. Not only did they gain victory, important lessons learnt helped to set up the campaign in Burma that would follow, with General Slim's Fourteenth Army sealing victory.
