Trench whistles were used for the first time in war during the First World War to give orders, overcoming the chaotic noise of the trenches. They are sadly known for the signal that sent Tommies "over the top".

Made from metal, this accurate reproduction shows the date 1916 stamped on it as a reminder of the battle of the Somme, also an arrow, the mark that differed the whistles property of the British Empire.

An excellent piece for a World War One presentation at school or to coordinate your very own army at home. It sounds loud and clear!
